Interview #5 with Jessica's Mom
During the past week, many of you have been asking for another interview with Jessica's mother. Well, it's always been part of the plans, but some things in this world are bigger than Big Brother... like a son returning home from Iraq... and I really didn't want to intrude on the family's time until they'd returned from California. That time has finally come! :)
Carolyn-bb8dish: Thanks so much for agreeing to do another interview. I hope you had a wonderful time with Dean... and thank you for sharing so many of his welcome home pictures with us!
Here's a buncha new questions for ya:
bb8dish: How are you feeling about Jessica's alliance with Dick, Daniele and Eric?
Marie - Jessica's Mom: Clearly Dick, Daniele, and Eric have proven to be three of the strongest players this season. For Jessica to enter into an alliance with them, has required her to make a gigantic leap of faith. If the alliance holds true, I feel this will prove to be a very good move for Jessica.
bb8dish: Jessica and Eric have taken their friendship to a new level this week, and both seem very sincere to me, as well as very sweet and (for lack of a better word) appropriate. How are you feeling about it?
JMom: While their relationship seems to be growing, I feel they are both trying to maintain a respectable decorum for national tv, and wish they would concentrate more on the game and less on building a personal relationship.
bb8dish: I was crushed the night Jessica got her HoH and didn't get a letter from Dean - Having spoken with you just the night before when you were heading out to California, I thought, PERFECT, and I was not so secretly hoping production would have had their fastest P.A. waiting at your hotel to rush back a letter and pics of Dean for Jessica... Now I understand that the timing wasn't as fabulous as I'd originally thought. Was production in touch with you at all during your time in California? Was there any attempt made to get Jessica something from Dean? As difficult as it is for most of us to imagine having a loved one in Iraq, it's even harder to think we'd have no knowledge of his wellbeing for a period of 3 months.
JMom: Dean did not fly into California until Friday afternoon; therefore, there was no opportunity for Dean to have a letter written for Jessica in time for the HOH room basket on Thursday night. The producers did contact us while we were in California this week, but there was not an opportunity for them to meet up with Dean for an interview due to scheduling conflicts. It was disappointing, as we know Jessica would have loved to receive a phone call or letter from Dean this week, updating her on his return to America and plans for his upcoming leave.
bb8dish: Jessica's first HoH changed the game drastically: The ouster of Dustin and the formation of the alliance with Dick and Daniele. Her second HoH has been quite a bit easier... taking out Amber - it had to happen sooner or later, right? Eric has promised to fight to the death for tomorrow's HoH, in order to give Jessica the same level of security she's given him the past couple times... What are your concerns for the week ahead... in terms of Jessica's safety? Who are you rooting for in the upcoming HoH competition?
JMom: No one should feel safe any longer, including Jessica. With the AP twist, I don’t feel Eric could guarantee Jessica’s safety, so I would rather see Dick win the HOH, as I think Dick would be most willing to honor his word and not nominate Jessica. This is where we will see if her alliance decision was a smart move or not.
bb8dish: Same last question - with a twist - It's getting down to the nitty gritty. Come Thursday night, there will only be 6 houseguests left... Given the opportunity to talk to Jessica for 3 minutes, uncensored, what would you want to tell her today?
JMom: Remember why you are there – this is a game, and you don’t want any regrets. Keep your head in the game. Go with your gut, and trust your own instincts. Work your own agenda; don’t believe everything Eric, Jameka, and the others tell you. Make decisions based on what works best for you and you alone, as there can only be one winner. Work on your personal relationships after the game is over.
bb8dish: Marie, Thank you again for being so giving with your time this season. And on behalf of bb8dish and our readers, thank you for your family's service to our nation. And Welcome Home, Dean!!
JMom: Thank you again for asking my thoughts, and for your (and your readers') support of both Jessica & Dean!

AWESOME! what a cool and level-headed mom... Of course she doesn't want her daughter kanoodling on NATIONAL TV... but she didn't express distrust of Eric, just concern about his AP duties... so I think she tacitly approves of the courtship
WAY TO GO Carolyn...
*crying*
That is amazing. Thank you to Jessica's mom and to bb8dish for doing this interview.
Glad I'm not the only one crying.
I know what it is like for that well awaited welcome home(my hubby is on his second deployment as we speak). WELCOME HOME DEAN and THANKS for your service.
I also want to give a big THANKS and a hug to Marie for the wonderful interview and for sharing the pics with us and KUDOS to Carolyn as well! You got us what we have all been waiting for. You ROCK gal!
I absolutely adore Jessica. I am cheering her on to victory! I can't imagine how nervous her family must be. I'm on pins and needles waiting to see who wins HOH and if the JEDD alliance stays true to one another.
And Carolyn~ Hope you are feeling better today. Check your email, I sent you some Matzo Ball soup!
Kevin thanks :)
Stacie Thanks :)
Melissa Thank you - I could use it! Still not feeling myself yet... As I write this, Jess & Eric are smoochin away @ 7am BBT...
Fantastic job as always... hope you are feeling better!!
I hope CBS does half as good a job as you have, and shows an interview with Dean on an upcoming episode.
Yay, thanks Jessica's mom and Welcome Home DEAN. Good job carolyn. I really have liked Jessica in the game from week two or so. I would love to see it come down to her and Danielle. I think her and Eric are cute together and really hope he dosen't mess up her game.
oh dear... QUITE a make-out session going on, huh?
In the baseball analogy Eric may be rounding third.
cover your eyes JMOM.
wouldn't it be hilarious if Jess popped up all disheveled and said "HI MOM!"
wow thankyou for sharing this Carolyn, the pics are lovely and what a beautiful day it was for them. Although Jess's mom didn't express distrust of Erc it was nice to see that she doesn't think Jess should trust him and concentrate on the game, I would think the same as a mom. Hope your feeling better Carolyn, lol I am reading about them smooching at Jokers yuck!!, I still can't bring myself to watch that lol and still haven't had my feeds on for some time although I'm mad I missed Dick falling in the pool lol.
Carolyn, You are excellent!! What do you do when BB is not on?? Thanks for the everything you do, I will be leaving my tips today as I think you work very hard for us the people!!!
As far a Jessica's Mom...WOW, she must be proud to create 2 beautiful and intelligent children!!
Heres to Jessica winning BB8 and having Happy Life!!
Welcome Home Dean!!
Mike.. I'm reasonably sure they're gonna do us one better and milk the dean/jess reunion for all it's worth. I fully expect an appearance from him on the finale.. brother-sister tearful reunion type thing..
Great interview!! Welcome home Dean, and thank you for your service! Gonna switch gears for just a sec....I just heard a rumor about CBS, and how they are not allowing reporters to ask Amber,(if she goes to the jury house tonight) about the comments she made to Jameka early on in the game!! Just wondering if someone could confirm this. Hope you get to feeling better Carolyn...Great interview again!!!!
reneeThank you so much! :) Well, for the first week BB's not on, I plan on sleeping and being massaged and facials and all kind of girly pampery stuff, tip jar willing.. :)
I wish I was feeling a bit better right now, so I could do the overnight report, but it's just not happening today - kinda hard to amass it when i spike fever after sitting upright for more than 5 minutes.
I do have the feeds on though, and if anything Major happens, you guys will know about it. :)
I'm so glad I found this site!
The pictures were great to see! I just wish there was a way for Jess to see them right now as well!!!
michael - the rumors about CBS are true, i read that yesterday -
carolyn - as always, thank you so much for arranging the interview
my perception of jessica when she first came on the show are so different than what i think of her now. and when you read what mom says/thinks, you realize quickly why jessica is such a good person, poised and an excellent player in the game. could i be turning on my faves? (d&d)??
aw i love her interviews! thanks carolyn & jessica's mom!!
p.s- carolyn, if you're looking for some eric/jessica cuddling&kissing footage from early, early this morning.. the user: romie1218 on youtube has captured 3 amazing videos!
Thanks for the interview! I agree with Jessica's mother 100%!
Mom really does know best.=)
anon - thanks for the clip tip.. romie's been putting up a lot of good stuff!
michael - the rumors are definitely true.. reporters will not be allowed to ask jameka or amber about the remarks. as a result, the AP has opted to not do any exit interviews of amber or jameka.
How awesome is this? Thanks for sharing Ladies , I did link my group over here. :)
thanks, kelly :)
and thanks to whoever among you posted it to jokers... yowza on the site stats today.
That interview made my eyes water. *sniffs* Thanks Carolyn! That interview was very good and very sweet.
Best regards to Marie, Dean and the rest of the family.
Thank you first of all for the great interview. I think for the most part that Jessica's Mom was right on target. However, regarding Eric, she should just let her daughter be happy. Doesn't she realize that they are stuck there for hours with nothing to do. How could she not expect her daughter to get close to somebody? That is unrealistic. Maybe there is an underlying message from her Mom not to get involved with Eric due to religion. No body likes to admit it but you know those thoughts are probably going on.
Great interview! Jess' mom is right about waiting to build personal relationships until the game is OVER. I truly hope that Dick and Dani don't turn on her this week and try to oust her now. That really scares me especially regarding Daniele's part of the deal. Best of luck Jess. She is young and will learn a lot from this experience either way.
Btw, I am also thrilled that Dean is home safely! God bless him.
question:
when are we going to see Dustin's face when Jen joins him in the Shouse? That was alawys fun to watch their faces as what happened while they were away as well as the eviction of the last HG.
or did i miss it?
Thanks Carolyn! Very touching!
Thanks... that was another interesting interview. I am glad Dean is home safe and sound.
Just a question though... since when did this site become merely a Jess lovefest. Aren't there any other interviews that can be done, with families of other HGs.
Personally I am not a big fan of Jessica... not worthy of F3 because she doesn't think for herself... every move done has been Eric's making. Not happy about that.
So could there be a little more equity to other HGs please. I love this site for updates... but it's been boring this past week. All about 'showmance' etc. I guess if this is it... I hope Zack wins HoH and Jess is sent packing next to Eric. (He's clearly less of a threat and a much more worthy player in the end.)
Sheryl
Sheryl - I've been workin on it. It's not as easy as it looks... making interviews happen.
As the mom of a 21 year old, I have been wondering what Jessica's mom has been thinking. Thank you for sharing this. And thank you to Marie for talking! She should be very proud of Jessica. I feel that Jessica is setting a wonderful example of how to begin a relationship slowly. Not everything has to go from zero to 100 overnight. I agree that she needs to keep her eye on the prize and not let Eric over run her game; but I do believe that he has her best interest at heart and will protect her as much as he can.
Sheryl,
I understand where you are coming from in the sense that Jessica has not really been the mastermind behind any major moves this season. However, in my opinion, I think one of her biggest strengths is in choosing who to rely on and determining who really has your best interests at heart. She could easily have blindly trusted Amber (like Nick did) and been back-stabbed at the first bump in the road. Alternatively, she could have been snowed over completely by her own alliance like Dustin was just a few weeks ago. I think choosing who to align with is a major factor in getting to the end. If she makes the finals she will have done so based on good strategy.
Very well said Mike, I totally agree!
Can I ask why noone else parents have been interviewed ?? No other interviews have been posted? And Jess's mom has been 3 times?? I have no disrespect for Jess here it just seem very skewed here!I guess thats why your soo down with the Eric/Jess thing on this board and why everyone seems to get think they are so cute.... We'll see how cute it is in a week when one of them throws the other under the bus!
I am sure this won't get posted but I feel better saying it anyway.
there actually have been other interviews posted, apart from the 5 with jessica's mom. there was one with kris and another with josh...
parents aren't the easiest interviews to get for a little blogger.
interviews, period, are tough!
I would personally love to see an interview with Jen's parent(s). Just to get a sense of how they felt about the way their daughter was treated. Something like that would definitely break my heart.
Maybe the producers could throw jessica a bone and put a note in 'whoever' wins the HOH that her brother is safely home.
This was amazing and I am crying also!!! Thank you so much Marie and Carolyn! And THANK YOU DEAN! Welcome Home!!!
Thanks for this! Jessica's mom is proof of how grounded she is -- solid Midwestern values and somebody who will not be changed for the worse as a person because of the experience of BB8.
Jessica reminds me very much of my wife of 10 years, who also is a Midwestern girl -- fun, open, but guarded and well-grounded.
I'm very much rooting for Jessica to win and I hope that Eric, because of the things he has to do as AP, doesn't keep her from it.
I do think Eric's feelings for Jessica are real and vice-versa, but it's such an odd situation they are in. It's hard to say how it will be outside of the house. But, again, I think that Jessica will make a good decision, and it's because of what you've instilled in her that she is who she is.
I'm glad Dean is home safe and that your family can have at least some sense of normalcy again. I can't imagine what it must have been like to have both of your children off doing such very different things.
Your family is what makes America a great place, and I'm glad to have come to feel as though I know you through TV and the Internet. Best of luck and Go Jess!!
Posting this alittle late but Welcome home Dean...Your service to our country is much bigger than BB8 and so much more important. I am glad we had pictures posted of you. Sorry to see Jessica leave. She was a class act. I believe she played the most honest of all the houseguests. She should have followed her own gut and not her heart but life is not always about winning. She may take something much more important out of the BB8.
Love you Jess
Thank you Mom for the Pictures
And Dean for the Service
Cathy
